One of my favorite pouches at the CPLG Etsy store. I get annoyed when I'm searching in my purse for small items such as lipgloss.  This is one cute case that can solve that problem. You can also stuff this bag until it says stop because of it's elastic loop closure. Check it out here.

Take a breather from tax day and create this super simple pouch. Materials needed:
  • Rectangle size piece of fabric
  • Piece of string that is longer than the length of your fabric

Congrats to Kandi Burrus and Todd Tucker! From what I've seen on television, the couple seems real and genuine. I am just wondering how Kandi's crazy gangsta mom is feeling about the whole thing. If you have seen her on the show, Real Housewives of Atlanta, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Well, CPLG wishes you the best and many years to come!

Starting My Etsy Shop: CPLG

What I've realized so far about selling on Etsy and hand making products:

So, I have been really busy working on my Etsy shop. My products are handmade clutches and small bags. I have a knack for creating things, and I just had to find an outlet. I love fashion, so I figured that I would start out with clutches. It is so much work, but I am having so much fun. I will be blogging about countdowns, follow ups, and Etsy tips soon. Wish me luck!
  • You need to have 10 or more items for a successful start
  • Read as much of the Etsy User Guides as possible
  • Look at the competition
  • Complete, research, and take care all of the busy work:
    • shipping fees,
    • policies,
    • marketing
  • Shop around for affordable and good quality supplies before you make or buy anything
  • Practice making your products on dummy material before messing up any good materials, if possible.

Expected opening day: Late April

CPLG: Career Talk

Me getting ready to sing  ;)

I am now in my last year of college, thank GOD! I am majoring in Music Education, and it was a lot more work than I thought it would be. There was like a million Music Theory classes, and then there were classes called Aural Skills where I almost had to be a psychic to know what type of scales, chords, and cadences I heard. I haven't even talk about the educational part of it yet, and the fact that I had to take a million state test to prove that I aM worthy of teaching. It's no joke. Now that I'm just about finished with my degree, I have this confidence in myself where I feel like there is not too much in life that I can't accomplish.

Why Music Education? Are there any jobs out there for Music Teachers?

So many people were telling me that I was stupid for majoring in Music Education, and there were times where I questioned my decision. BUT, you will never be %100 percent sure about most big decisions in life, unless your just perfect. I knew that I was passionate about music, I was great at working with kids, and that I loved to teach and help others. No there are not as many Music Teacher positions as there are basic teacher positions, but everyone of my former classmates that graduated with a Music Ed. degree has a job teaching music. There are not that many people graduating with educational degrees period, so I feel that there is a great balance. The world will always need teachers. The world will also need a utilize music. Regardless of the pros and cons, I feel that one should go to college and major in whatever he or she wants. It's a long process, so you might as well do it for something that you enjoy.

CPLG: Natural Dry Hair

So I have kinky curly hair, and I go back and forth between wearing it straight and natural. I never really have found any magic hair products until I finally tried pure %100 Shea Butter as a sealant on my hair! It is so awesome, and my hair and ends love it.
  • I spray my hair with my spray bottle that consist of water and 1/3rds of Aloe Vera Juice. Check out naptural85's youtube page.
  • Sometimes I apply a moisturizing cream such as Shea Moisture's  Curl Smoothie Cream. The best moisturizers have water labeled as the first or second ingredient.
  • Next I rub the Shea Butter in my hands, and apply it to my curls. I put a lot on my ends.

I only wash my hair with shampoo once a month, and I also co-wash once a month. I use egg as a protein treatment, and on shampoo days I always use a leave-in condition.

Patterns That I Adore!

Stripes! Yikes!
I adore stripes. They add edge and chic-ness to any outfit. Some of my favorite pieces that I wear consist of stripes. I've even seen people mix stripes with other patterns such as florals, and it was really cute. I must include stripes in my future pieces.
Cheetah Fierceness
Every woman, man, boy, girl, dog, should own something with a cheetah print! LOL. Pairing it with red items makes it a class, but it's just as cute worn alone. Of course I have a cheetah print clutch in the making.

Florals Darling
Floral prints sometimes can look a little grannyish, but add a leather jacket and it's so chic. Summer is on it's way to Chicago, and I am looking for some florals to throw on. It's so feminine and cute, and what girl doesn't want to feel and look like a lady.
Chevron
If you are a frequent Pinterest user, the majority of fashion items consist of chevron. It is such a cute pattern with a little edge.

Well, those are just some of my favorite patterns. Mixing them with other cute patterns it such a great idea also. What are some of your favorite patterns?

Secrets to Getting Rid of Adult Acne

CPLG Beauty: Adult Acne :(

I have had acne since I was in high school. I have tried everything from natural products to Proactive. I refuse to use Acutane because of the side effects t I've read about. So there is this website called Acne.org. The creator of the website presents a simple regimen that consist of a sensitive skin wash, 2.5 Benzoyl Peroxide, and a simple moisturizer.  You can use any brand, and get the products from your local drug store. Here are the exact products that I used:

  • Nuetrogena Sensitive Face Wash
  • 2.5% Benzoyl Perioxide Acne Gel by Dr. Song
  • Small dab of olive oil for moisturizing.

For the regimen page, click here. All of my products were purchased from amazon.com for a very affordable price. I used the products day an night, but sometimes I did not use the Benzoyl Peroxide at night because of over drying. I am not being paid to give this advice or support these products.
